Away from my home country, Japan, for the first time, studying abroad in Australia... This has become one of the best experiences in my life. What I loved the most while living in Australia is all the new friends I have made.
I lived on Orion College for the whole year, which gave me a lot of opportunities to make both international and Australian friends. I loved living there because I met a lot of wonderful people and had many opportunities to talk to them since the units are close to each other. I loved my roommates who became my new family through spending a lot of time together in the same flat. I have made a lot of memories with many people in the college through events which RAs and SCU International organised for us. All the people I have met in the college are so friendly and nice, and they made my time in Australia so special.
I also got to know people from other colleges through the SCU social sports, RA events, and classes in university. In social sports, it was so great to get to know a lot of people and make memories together through games every week. My teammates were from another college as well as my college, and I really enjoyed playing sports with them. In university, although it was sometimes difficult to follow the classes because of the language barrier, my unit teachers were so supportive and my friend
s also helped me to catch up and listened to me whenever I spoke up in class. The class style was so different from Japan, which was challenging for me but I really enjoyed them because of the support from the teachers and my friends.
Studying abroad in Australia has made me realize how small the world is and how lucky I have been to meet new people from all around the world and make lasting memories together. Each and every one of them helped me to make my adventure in Australia one of the best experiences of my life. I am so thankful to them and so happy to have met them in Australia. I am looking forward to seeing them again in Australia, Japan, or anywhere in the world!
