I am doing a Bachelor of Business in Tourism and Hospitality Management. It is actually my last year at Southern Cross University. The course I am undertaking is interesting as I am learning a variety of subjects that are linked to business and tourism. I have definitely gained skills in different areas such as tourism marketing, management and communications.
Southern Cross University provides sufficient resources for you to succeed (on-campus and online resources). The staff at Southern Cross (student advisers, lecturers and others) are always keen to help you as they really want us to succeed in our studies. We are all equal, there is no difference between students and staff.
As an international student, coming to Australia for the first time on my own was a big challenge. Fortunately, the international student advisers have been really helpful in getting myself on the right track concerning my studies, accommodation, life and other situations I have faced since my arrival.
I really recommend Southern Cross University to international and domestic for its amazing and helpful staff, for its diversity and for its friendly atmosphere. It is a great experience as you get to know different people from Australia and overseas. You learn more about your peers, their background, traditions and culture, which is very interesting. I am feeling like I am a part of Southern Cross community or even more as a member of Southern Cross family.
Additionally, Southern Cross is an active university as it always proposes diverse mini-events that help students to relax between classes and have fun. One of my favourite event is the Fusion Festival in which the different nationalities have to showcase their culture (dance, artefacts, painting, etc.), which is really interesting. The University also provides social activities and sports. It is really good as you meet new people (domestic and international) while having fun.
Studying at Southern Cross University has been a wonderful journey.
